Issue no. 2:
Yolo Journal’s version of an “adventure” issue; they follow Belinda Carlisle and her best friend, artist Lisa Borgnes Giramonti, through Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, on their Silk Road trip. This issue gets up close on a women-only Sahara desert race that allows no GPS only maps. Milder adventures as well include a how-to/where-to “brocante” in France, a visit to the Fife Arms in Scotland, Satellite Island in Tanzania, Castelmagno with Mimi Thorisson, Niemeyer masterpieces in Brazil, Todos Santos as your next beach vacation, and more. Cover by Clara Hranek, who photographed Christy Turlington in Greece, somewhere between Patmos and Leros.
Issue no. 3:
Winter/Spring Issue of Yolo takes you from the snowy Swiss Alps, where stylist Robert Rabensteiner shares his favorite place to unwind (Sils Maria), to Mauritius, with local swimwear designer Alicia Rountree. Big Sur, Salento, Dominican Republic, Bhutan, Lanzarote, Megève, Iran, Marrakech, and Rome are some of our features, and there’s a special section called The Retreat, with wellness (ish!) destinations. Cover by Dewey Nicks, who photographed Alicia Rountree in the Mauritius.
Issue no. 4:
This issue is dedicated to Greece! The good people behind Yolo Journal asked all of their favorite Greeks and Greece lovers to share their secret islands, hotels, villa rentals, and food! They like to think of it as the ultimate dreaming and planning tool for your next trip (so do we). Cover by Costas Spathis, shot in Crete.
Issue no. 5:
The team at Yolo have called their Fall/Winter 2020 issue the Dream Issue, because when they were putting it together, they discovered that so many of their contributors were writing about places that makes them dream (Tangier and Oahu), places they dreamed of when they couldn’t travel (Amalfi, Biarritz, Goldeneye), or places that had always been a dream until they made it a reality (Botswana, Joshua Tree, Namibia). There are also great stories from Barbados, a secret island in New England, and many more!
