DETAILS

this knee-length, sleeveless dress reinterprets classic formalwear through inside-out construction, revealing the anonymity of the lining technique. a navy techno wool twill skirt contrasts with a brown viscose bodice, finished with raw edges, reverse darts, and visible basting stitches. work-in-progress stitching at the waist and hem further emphasises the garment’s deconstructed state. the back zip allows versatile styling – worn closed for structure, or open to reveal the memory of the gesture. maison margiela’s signature, the four stitches, appear at the back; the opposite of a label.

ABOUT

Maison Margiela

Maison Margiela is a luxury haute couture house founded on ideas of nonconformity by Belgian designer Martin Margiela in 1988. The brand embraces creativity rooted in authenticity, community, and self-expression, focusing on the relationship between clothes and how they are worn. Now under the creative direction of Glenn Martens, the Artisanal atelier challenges tradition by reinterpreting and repurposing past elements into new forms. This process creates a dialogue between past and present, emphasizing individuality and authenticity.
